Food for Thought

Incredible Committee The Cambodian government has lately appointed a committee to look into and/or resolve wage issues for Cambodian labors, especially, those who are working in garment factories. Based on what was officially listed on the committee roster, all of the committee members (with the exception of Mr. Kit Meng, who represented business interests) are government officials. It is quite odd to see that the committee whose task is to solve the problem related to a particular sector (in this case, garment factories workers) has no representative from that sector on it. With such committee working on their behalf, the poor Cambodian labors will certainly be facing a nighmarish scenario for many more years to come. This quote from former Bristish Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, with regard to his relationship with Soviet leader, Joseph Stalin said it all: "With a friend like you, I will not need an enemy."
